Lubrication, maintenance, and operation of engine components are crucial for ensuring the engine runs smoothly and extending its lifespan.
I. Lubrication and Maintenance
Choosing the Right Lubricant:
Select the appropriate lubricant based on the engine type, operating conditions, and manufacturer's recommendations. High-quality lubricants better protect engine components, reducing wear and friction.
Pay attention to the lubricant's viscosity grade and API (American Petroleum Institute) quality grade to ensure they meet the engine's requirements.
Regular Oil Changes:
Follow the manufacturer's recommended oil change intervals and change the oil regularly. Semi-synthetic oil is typically changed every 5000 to 7000 kilometers or every 6 months, while fully synthetic oil may be changed every 8500 to 12000 kilometers or every 12 months.
When changing the oil, be sure to replace the oil filter at the same time to prevent impurities in the dirty oil from clogging the filter and affecting lubrication.
Check Oil Level:
Regularly check the oil level to ensure it is within the specified range. Too low an oil level can cause engine overheating and wear, while too high an oil level may damage engine seals.
Using Engine Restorers:
In some cases, consider using engine restorers to assist with maintenance. These restorers can reduce wear, improve fuel efficiency, reduce noise, and may repair minor damage. However, care should be taken when using them to ensure their quality.
Cleaning the Lubrication System:
Regularly clean the lubrication system to remove carbon deposits and impurities from the oil, maintaining its cleanliness and lubricating performance.
II. Operation and Maintenance
Regular Inspection:
Regularly conduct a comprehensive inspection of the engine, including checking cylinder pressure, ignition system, fuel injection system, cooling system, etc.
Check the engine's fasteners and connections to ensure they are not loose or damaged.
Keep the Engine Clean:
Regularly clean the engine compartment, removing dust, oil stains, and other debris. This helps prevent dust and debris from damaging the engine.
Avoid using a high-pressure water gun to directly wash electrical components and wiring in the engine compartment to avoid damaging them.
Correct Operation and Maintenance:
Follow the manufacturer's operating manual for correct operation and maintenance of the engine. Avoid prolonged high-load operation, and reasonably control parameters such as fuel injection and ignition advance.
When starting the engine in cold weather, it is best to let the vehicle idle for a while to reduce wear during startup.
Coolant Replacement:
Replace the coolant regularly, usually every 40,000 kilometers or two years. Choose the appropriate coolant and ensure the coolant in the radiator is normal.
In winter, choose the appropriate coolant according to the ambient temperature and ensure that the coolant reservoir level remains within the specified range.
Maintaining the Air Filter:
The air filter prevents dust and other impurities from entering the engine. Regularly replace the air filter to keep it clean and unobstructed.
If the vehicle frequently operates in dusty environments, it is recommended to shorten the air filter replacement cycle.
Using the Right Fuel:
Choose fuel that meets the engine's requirements and avoid using low-quality fuel. Low-quality fuel accelerates the wear and aging of engine components.
Lubrication, maintenance, and operation of engine components are important measures to ensure the engine runs smoothly and extends its service life. By properly selecting lubricants, regularly changing oil and oil filters, checking oil levels, using engine restorers, cleaning the lubrication system, and performing regular inspections and maintenance, the engine's durability and reliability can be significantly improved.
